Austral Tower

Written by MSG Commander

The Austral Tower is on a desert island on the southeast corner of the World Map, just south of the Light Shrine.

After the Legendary Weapons (if you got them already), you should have no problem putting the random encounters here on Auto.

Side Note

There appears to be a large room on the far east side of the fourth floor that is entirely inaccessable. (It looks like part of the large room on the twelfth floor somehow ended up on this map, but I really don't know why or how.) I don't know if this was a glitch, or if there's a hidden passage somewhere that I missed.  If anyone knows, I'd love to hear about it in the comments!

Your first Boss battle takes place just as soon as you start exploring the Austral Tower.

Boss Battle

Chimera

I used Aura, Mini Big Bang, Dark Matter and Earth Crush (although Meteor Strike may have been a better choice.) Chimera went down in about two rounds.

After you beat him, you need to find your way to the top of the tower.

The Red Key

The Red Key is on the sixth floor. But this key doesn't open a door; rather, it activates a switch. The switch is in another part of the sixth floor, and when you use the Red Key on the switch, it unlocks all the red doors in the tower.

Here's the path to the Red Key:

From the entrance, follow the path until you come to a couple of blue tiles on the floor. Turn south and take the stairs up to the second floor. On the second floor, follow the path to a large room with two treasures. Get the treasure and go back to the first floor.

Go north of the blue tiles and take the path to the north to get two more treasures. Now go back and take the path to the east. When the path splits, go north, and then east, and then follow the path to stairs up to the second floor.

On the second floor, follow the path to a four-way intersection. Go south, then east to get two more treasures. Now follow this path back around to the west to reach the stairs up to the third floor.

On the third floor, when the path splits go west to get a treasure, then go northeast to stairs up to the fourth floor.

On the fourth floor, take the second south path and follow it all the way to the southwest to stairs up to the fifth floor.

On the fifth floor, follow the path to the northeast to get to stairs up to the sixth floor. Now follow the path on the sixth floor until you come to a row of white tiles on the floor. Go across the tiles and head south to get the Red Key.

And here's the path to the Red Switch:

From the room on the sixth floor where you get the Red Key, go back and take the stairs down to the fifth floor.

On the fifth floor, go south, then west, then follow the path to the north that leads all the way around to stairs leading down to the fourth floor.

From here, go east to the stairs leading back up to the fifth floor, then west to stairs leading up to the sixth floor.

On the sixth floor, follow the path to a switch in the middle of a small room. This is the Red Switch. Investigating this switch will open every Red door in the tower.

After you open all the Red doors, take the stairs just east of the Red Switch that go up to the seventh floor and get the treasure. Then go back to the sixth floor and take the path to the north to a platform that lets you jump down to the large room on the first floor.

Treasure

The Blue Key

The Blue Key is in a large room on the first floor that was blocked by a Red door, and the Blue Switch is on the seventh floor.

Here's the path to the Blue Key:

From the large room on the first floor, go south, then follow the path to the east to a set of stairs leading to the second floor.

On the second floor, go west to get one treasure, then go east to get another.

Now go back to the first floor. Go west, and take the path to the north until you come to a four-way intersection. Go east to get another treasure, and then west to get the Blue Key.

And here's the path to the Blue Switch:

From the room where you get the Blue Key, follow the path to the northeast.  Take the stairs up to the second floor and follow the path to the southwest to the stairs up to the third floor. On the third floor, go to the northeast to the stairs up to the fourth floor. (If this all looks familiar, it's because you were on this path before.)

On the fourth floor, take the first southern path to get a treasure that was previously behind a red door. Now go back and take the second southern path all the way to the southwest (same path you took before), and take the stairs to the fifth floor.

Follow this path to a four-way intersection, and go north to get another treasure. Now go back to the third floor, and take the platform that lets you jump down to the large room on the first floor.

From the large room on the first floor, go south, and follow the path to the southwest to get to stairs leading up to the second floor.

Go two spaces to the east to take the stairs up to the third floor.

On the third floor, there's a set of stairs that lead up to the fourth floor directly across from the stairs down to the second floor. Don't take these stairs!

Stay on the third floor and follow the path all the way to the south to get another treasure, then go back around and take the path to the east, which leads to stairs up to the fourth floor. On the fourth floor, go west as far as you can to get another treasure.

Now follow the path to the south to get to stairs leading up to the fifth floor. Go east to the stairs up to the sixth floor, then again to the stairs up to the seventh floor.

On the seventh floor, follow the path all the way to the Blue Switch. Activate the switch and get the two treasures behind the Blue doors that you just saw open up.

Treasure

After the Blue Switch

Go back down to the third floor and start going south. When the path splits, go east, and then south to get to a corridor with one treasure on each side. Get the two treasures, then go back and take the path to the southwest. When the path splits, go north and take the stairs all the way down to the first floor.

On the first floor, go to the room with blue tiles on the floor and go north. Take the northwest path, but as soon as possible, take the path to the east. When the path splits, go north, and go past the four-way intersection and follow the path to the stairs in the northest corner.

Take the stairs to the second floor, and follow the path to the southwest to the stairs up to the third floor. Now go northeast and take the stairs to the fourth floor.

On the fourth floor, take the second path to the south, and when it splits, go east and follow that path to stairs up to the fifth floor. On the fifth floor, go east and take the stairs down to the fourth floor. Now go north, and take the stairs up to the fifth floor.

On the fifth floor, follow the path around to a treasure. Now go back to the third floor, and take the platform that lets you jump down to the first floor.

From the first floor, go to the stairs in the southwest and take them all the way up to the third floor. Then take the stairs directly across from you that lead up to the fourth floor.

On the fourth floor, go south and follow the path to get the treasure. Then go back and take the stairs up to the fifth floor. Go north and take the stairs up to the sixth floor.

On the sixth floor, go south, then east, then south, then east again. Go past the next south, and you'll come to a set of stairs that were previously blocked by a Blue door. Take those stairs up to the seventh floor. Follow the path to the north the final treasure in the Austral Tower.

Treasure

To the Top

Once you've got the final treasure on the seventh floor, go back to the sixth floor and follow the path to the south, to another set of stairs leading up to the seventh floor. Follow this path to stairs leading up the the eighth floor.

On the eighth floor, follow the path to the west and take the stairs up to the ninth floor. From here, each floor only has one path to the stairs up to the next floor, all the way up to twelve. When you reach the twelfth floor, Save your game, then follow the path to the large room in the southwest, and get ready for a Boss battle.

Boss Battle

Victor

It seems Victor is now under Maxim's control. You have no choice here but to fight him. If you're high levels, he should only last about two or three rounds.

Spoiler

After the battle, Victor is mortally wounded. He refuses to let Eclair treat his wounds, choosing instead to die so that Maxim won't be able to regain control over him. Furthermore, Victor is the cause of the energi barrier blocking the way to Maxim's Castle! Ash takes Victor's life, opening the way to the castle.

After the battle, leave the large room and go east to a platform that lets you jump down to the eighth floor. From there, go back to the sixth floor and follow the path to the northwest to a platform that lets you jump all the way to the first floor. Then it's back to the entrance, and then to Vanessa's Lab to get the details on the final battle.

Back at Vanessa's Lab

Talk to Vanessa, then talk to everyone in your party. The next morning, Vanessa tells you that you need to defeat Maxim, and seal another energi abyss. To seal this one, you need to throw the Astral Ring into the abyss, and then Ash and Enah should be able to combine their powers to seal it permanently.
