Hints and Tips

Save Your Game Often

Although Eve of the Genesis does have an Auto-save feature, it's a good idea to Save your game regularly. Unlike some Kemco games, in this one, if you die in battle it's an automatic Game Over, and you go back to the Title screen. So, it's a good idea to save at least before every Boss battle, and every time you leave or enter a new location.

Save your Elixirs!

First and foremost, you only get a limited number of Elixirs throughout the game (at least until after you've defeated Eve of Zero). You can’t buy Elixirs; you can only get them from treasure chests (and, after the final Boss, from rare drops from random encounters or Boss battles).

You will need to use Elixirs in the final Boss battle against Robot Hellraiser, and again when you face off against Eve of Zero, so be careful not to use them all before you reach the end of the game. If a party member dies in battle (before the final Boss) and you can’t bring them back any other way, it’s sometimes best to just leave them dead until the battle is over.

Item Drops

Some enemies drop Reinforcing Gems, Diffusing Gems, or Element-changing Gems.  When you find one of these, you can stay in that area and keep fighting the enemy until you get a couple extra gems.  This way you may be able to upgrade some additional skills a bit earlier than if you have to rely solely on treasure chests and shops.

Weapons and Armor

It’s generally a good idea to buy the best weapons and armor available whenever you come to a new location. Sometimes you’ll have to spend some extra time fighting random encounters to earn enough Gold, but it will always be worth it.

Meat Flavor

Using Meat Flavor will greatly increase the frequency of random encounters.  Use it anytime you need to level up quickly, or earn a bunch of extra Gold.  The effects last for several minutes.

Use Sands to Boost Your Stats

A lot of enemies will drop Sands (like Sands of Evasion, Sands of Strength, etc.) You can use these Sands to boost your character's stats, increasing their Attack strength, Magic damage, etc.

I generally recommend saving your Sands until late in the game, until you have a feel for each character's strengths and weaknesses.

Of course, if there's a particular stat you know you want to boost, all you have to do is find the enemy that drops the corresponding Sand, and then invest the time in fighting them until you get as many Sands as you need.

Upgrading Skills

Skills can be upgraded using Gems, but even if you play through all the bonus material, you will not have enough Gems to upgrade every skill in the game!

Unless you want to fill in the entire Skill List, just to say you did, there are a lot of skills that you can ignore. This will allow you to upgrade all of the skills you really want and need in order to beat the game.

Here are the skills I recommend for each character:

Effat

Harty

Clia

Viper
