Port Town of Ilga

The Search for Harty's Father Continues

When you get to the Port Town of Ilga, Harty mentions that her father is somehow connected with the Item Shop in town, and she suggests that you look for him there. (She also tells some story about how her father wants to build railroads to connect the world, but that has nothing to actually do with the story.)

Go to the Item Shop. There, you find out that Harty's father has gone to Kuto Village on the other side of the desert. (Kuto Village is the home of the Moon Folk - strange people who believe they're descended from Elves.) This is where you have to go next.

The Trading company employee who tells you about Harty's father also tells you there's a World Map on the second floor of the Item Shop. You'll definitely want to get the World Map before you leave the Port Town of Ilga.

The Skill Shop

The Port Town of Ilga has the first Skill Shop you come across in the game. Skill Shops let you buy new skills that you can then upgrade with Reinforcing Gems.

I recommend you buy First Aid for Harty and Poison Needle for Effat, but skip Bodyblow unless you want to fill in the Skill List in your History menu.

Also, go ahead and upgrade the following skills:

Brutal Slash to Violent Slash, Young Lady’s Shot to Double Shot, and First-aid to Recover slightly.

Other Things to Do in the Port Town

There’s a hidden path between the rooftops that lets you get to the blue star treasure.

There's a building in the northeast corner of town with a blue door and two treasures behind it.

There's also one treasure before the blue door. It contains a Reinforcing Gem.

Behind the building is a hidden path to 200 Gold.

A Pyramid?

A lot of the townspeople here talk about the Pyramid to the south. It apparently was buried in sand long ago, which makes it kind of hard to find.

You can’t enter the Pyrmaid until you have the Emerald Key, though, so for now just ignore it.

An Oopart

The bottom train car in the south of town has an oopart - an Unrusting Metal Plate. Examine it for one Element-changing Gem.

And a World Map...

When you're done here, leave town and open the World Map you just acquired.

You'll see that you're on the southern edge of the big desert continent, and ultimately you want to get to the northern edge of the desert. Your first step in that direction is through the Quicksand Path, which is west of your current location, nestled in among the mountain range.
