The Town of the Moon Folk

Travel northeast from the Forest of Confusion to reach the Town of the Moon Folk.

When you enter the town, go due north to reach the shrine where you meet the Chief of the Moon Folk. Deliver the egg you got from Clia's teacher to the Chief of the Moon Folk, and you get a Phoenix!

Press the Confirm button when you're on a grassy tile to summon the Phoenix.

And then the Chief tells you that you have to go to the Lands of Darkness to defeat the machines, and to get there you have to go through the Tower of the Skies.

To help you in your quest, the Chief invites you to help yourselves to all the treasure in the Town of the Moon Folk!

(What the Chief doesn't tell you is that the entrance to the Tower of the Skies is locked!)

But one of his people will tell you as much:

The key to open the Tower of the Skies is in the ruins surrounded by mountains somewhere near Ortia Castle - which after a brief detour will be your next destination.

Other Things to Do in Town

There's no Inn in the Town of the Moon Folk, but there are two buildings that have Recovery points. The one on the east side of town has an oopart in the candlestick - the Ancient Globe. It gives one Duplicating Gem.

The Town of the Moon Folk has the best weapons and armor you can buy in the game (although you can get some better from treasure chests). Buy all the weapons and armor here, and buy Revi for both Clia and Harty! You can buy Clear Lowered Abilites if you want to, but with four Anti-curse necklaces you don’t need to worry about Clear Abnormal States.

When you're done here, go back on the Field and head to the small clearing below the Town of the Moon Folk. Once there, press the Confirm button and voila! You're flying on a Phoenix! Now you can go anywhere and everywhere on the Field, so long as there's a clear square of ground for you to land on.
