You guys are amazing, as is the wisdom of the crowd. Thanks again for all the help and motivation you provided. π
Now that I knew the exact location, it was just a matter of time until I encountered Metal Glyphs, too. It took me 54 times for the first one and 83 times for the second one to spawn. At least it’s understandable why I was struggling: It can – as I feared – only be encountered in a very specific location, and our experiences indicate a probability somewhere between 1-2% per battle. Although I had long forgotten about where I had found the “sparkle” on the world map, I’m sure I tried my luck in this area as well, but I probably gave up after 50 fights, since I still had to cover practically the entire rest of the game. π
Now that I think about it, I should have investigated this area a bit longer, since one of the few random mob griffins (if not the only one) can be encountered here (Mysterious Griffin, no. 159). This means the game did something similar like in the “danger zone” southwest of Anemoss Town, which seems to be the only location where Metal Golems (no. 143) and Golden Golems (no. 80) can be encountered. Monsters of a similar type (palette-swap) seem to stick together. And hindsight is 20/20.
Well, at least the mystery is solved. In the future, I will have to be more thorough – and especially smarter – if I ever face a conundrum like this again while playing a JRPG.

[EDIT]:Β Iβm sure you know, but just in case, here is a old note I made about metal in general (not a specific monster):
The metal monster island: upper north east island;Β they donβt give much experience, but instead give SPSince I got almost all monsters now, I can tell Metal Islands in this game are terrible. The rare Metals will most likely never appear there (I will check if the new Glyph and Golem will spawn there now that I have them in Bestiary, but prior to that I never saw them, only 10 dragons).
I have no idea if there is any other KEMCO game without the handful QoL that is Sort by Location. But this alone made finding rare enemies even worse. Am glad I know where the final enemies are which is nice. So overall, having OP heroes for 87.5% of the game helped with not missing monsters I would miss for sure had I not been 1-shotting majority of enemies and bosses.

I don’t think I ever encountered Mysterious Glyph there but yeah. Both Metal Glyph and Metal Golem are found only next to their normal counterparts (and since you cannot tell what enemy you’re missing it’s easy to miss finding them. I talked with 1oldtymer and when I pointed out #112 King Golem is in bestiary for me (bugged for him) despite never remembering I fought it, he got surprised that it might be the case considering my team killing enemies in 1 hit.

March 13, 2023 at 12:21 pm #43699I don’t want to make a new topic but I’m on my way to max out the stats and equipment effects (will post once it’s done; note it may not be fully accurate because I did some weapon upgrades since the fight.) to see true max damage you can do. (999999 is the Max displayable damage per 1 hit but in post-battle result screen it can surpass it since there it counts 1 turn however it feels and it showed 1.5m damage.
Below are the stats of my party when I faced off against Lucifer on Hard (was a hard battle but did it to actually have a bit of a challenge this game.)
