From the Dwarves' Village, use a Crystal of Return to teleport to the Eastern Shadowlands. Then sail south, to an island with a big round mountain range. The fortress in the center of this island is the Ancient Tower.

Approach the door and it will open automatically.

On the third screen, you find Denoas - and before you can save him, you have to fight him.

Boss Battle

Denoas

Denoas is just not very nice in this battle.

Don't bother trying to Steal from him (there's nothing to steal), but instead, have Karin open with the finishing move Oma-Zangetsu.

Then have Runatie use Paladin Force (another finishing move) to raise everybody's attack and defense.

Now have Ryle use Berserk, and Golban use Defense Crush, then start hitting him with skills like Firebolt, Assault Rage, and Rockstrike. Pay close attention to everyone's health, and have Karin use potions as needed.

You can use one-bar finishing moves if you want, but if you can let the Deadliness Gauge rise to two bars, those attacks will be much more powerful.

Watch for his Rapid Rush, as it has the potential to kill a party member. Otherwise, just heal and revive people as needed, and keep beating on him until the battle's over.

Now that you've saved Denoas, your next goal is to rescue Rumil (who's at the top of the Ancient Tower, but first there's a bit more treasure to collect).

On the top of the Ancient Tower, there’s a scene with Jenowin, King Gnorr, and Rumil, then another Boss battle.

Boss Battle

Demonlight Battery

For this battle, you have an awesome new Finishing Move: Ragnazeilast. (If you don't have it, go grind to level 45, and you will.)

This move inflicts massive damage on just about any Boss in the game, but it uses your entire Deadliness Gauge, so you need to be really careful about when you use it.

On your first turn, have Karin steal the Fossil Plate, then have Runatie use Enchanted Weapon (on herself).

Have Ryle use Berserk and Denoas use Overload, followed on his next turn with Critical Up.

When Demonlight Battery uses Wide Shot, have someone (preferably Karin) use a Spiritstone of Life to restore everyone's HP by 1000.

As soon as possible, use one Ragnazeilast - but after that, make sure to get back to two bars in your Deadliness Gauge so you can use Denoas and Runatie's Fortify move.

Now use Weapon Breaker, Assault Edge, and whatever other good attack skills you have available.

Once you destroy the armor, use Fortify immediately! With the armor gone Demonlight Battery will start using Nova - and if you've used Fortify it will protect your entire party from taking damage for two turns.

After the first Nova, Demonlight Battery starts counting down 3 to 1, and when it’s done counting, it unleashes Nova again. From here on out, it keeps repeating the same pattern: countdown from 3 to 1, then Nova again.

So either kill it quickly, or use Fortify every time it gets down to 1.

After the battle, you get Rumil back. Then Garganbu reaches you via the communications device, and informs your party that the Evils are attacking Granzalk Castle! Ryle decides that saving Granzalk is just a bit more important right now than chasing down Jenowin, so as soon as you're ready, use a Crystal of Return and teleport to Granzalk Castle Town.

At Granzalk Castle Town

In the town, you find out that the Evils went straight for the castle and pretty much left the townspeople alone. If you talk to the soldier in front of Granzalk Castle, he tells you that one single Evil stormed the castle, and has locked the gate from the inside.

No one knows what's happening on the other side of the gate, but Ryle says there's a back way into the castle on the west side of town. Go look for the grate all the way in the northwest corner of town to get into the Underground Passage.
