Side Quests

Written by MSG Commander

There are a number of side quests in Symphony of the Origin. These quests have no impact on your ability to finish the game, they don’t affect the storyline at all, and in fact some of them don’t even give really incredible rewards (but then, some of them do.)

As far as I know, you can do any of these quests at any time, but I did each one as soon as it become available, so it’s possible if you wait too long, it might be too late.

Granzalk Castle Town

Small Bunch of Flowers

Give an Herb of Life to the man in the Inn. In return, he gives you a Fossil Plate.

The Elves’ Village

You can trade your Fossil Plates for useful items here by talking to Misha (next to the weapons shop.) The most useful item here is the Megin Gjord.

Specialty Items

Buy specialty products for the girl in the home in the northwest. If you bring her one from each town, she’ll give you a Secret Potion of the Heavens and a Fossil Plate.

Malnaret Inn

Bring some Local ‘Sakura-saki’ Brand Sake to the dwarf in the Inn. He’ll give you a Soma.

The Dwarves’ Village

Bring the sake maker one Spilrau, one Soma, one Secret Potion of the Heavens, and one Spirit Potion of the Elves, and he’ll give you a Life Elixir, Hercules Elixir, and Elixir of Ability.

Slanorona

There’s a guy in town who wants 5 campsets. He’ll give you a Fossil Plate in return.

The Eastern Shadowlands

There’s a woman who asks if you have any of the dwarves’ craftwork. Give her a Silver Music Box and she’ll give you a Lucklau.

The Temple

One of the temple workers asks you for donations of 1000G. If you donate five times, you get a Sacred Holy Stone. Five more times, and you get a Fossil Plate. Ten more times (for a total of 20 times), and you get a Revival Bowstring. After that, you can’t donate any more Gold.

Sealed Crystals

After you get the airship, go back to the Dwarves’ Village and talk to Garganbu. He tells you there’s still a bit of Spirit Gem left over, and gives you a Fragment of Spirit Gem. You can now fight a couple of “extra” bosses, each sealed away in a crystal. (Remember the crystals in dungeons that were shimmering, and that if you examined one it said there was a horrible atmosphere? That’s where these bosses are.)

The location of each crystal, and a strategy for the Boss battle, is located in the Bonus Material section of this guide.
